Description:
Choquequirao trek Imperial 5 days, is one of the little crowded routes of Cusco but no less attractive than Machu Picchu, This time you will go through it calmly, since Choquequirao is considered the Sister Citadel of Machu Picchu.
Itinerary
We will depart from Cusco at approximately 4:30 am and arrive in the city of Curahuasi for breakfast, which will take about 3 hours. Then, we will proceed to the Capuliyoc pass, passing through the towns of Saywite and Cachora, where we will organize our gear for the mules (which will carry our sleeping bags and camping equipment). We will begin our descent, marveling at the majestic snow-capped peaks of Padreyoc and Wayna Cachora, as well as witnessing the beautiful change in landscapes, from cliffs to the breathtaking Apurimac Canyon. In Chiquisca, we will have lunch and then continue to our campsite in Playa Rosalina, where we will have dinner and spend the night.
Early in the morning after breakfast, we continue our hike ascending towards the communities of Santa Rosa and Marampata, where we can appreciate the spectacular landscape. From Marampata, we continue towards the Choquequirao archaeological complex, which will take approximately 1.5 hours. During this part of the hike, we can catch glimpses of the Choquequirao complex, and nearby is our campsite where we will have lunch and set up our camp.
After breakfast, we will have a full-day guided tour of the Inca construction site “Choquequirao” and time to explore this majestic place on our own, appreciating the houses, terraces, main square, llama sector, and if we’re lucky, witnessing the “flight of the condors.” Our guide will also explain the history and significance of this site. Later, we will return to our campsite in Marampata where we will spend the night.
After an early breakfast, we will leave Marampata-Choquequirao, descending along the same trail we came from, giving us the opportunity to once again appreciate the Apurimac Canyon, lush vegetation, flowers, and orchids. Finally, we will return to the Playa area, where we will have our lunch. This will be followed by a 1-hour siesta before continuing our hike to our campsite in Chikiska, where we will have dinner and spend the night.
Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will continue along the trail where we can once again enjoy the spectacular view of the snow-capped mountains of Padreyoc, which adorn the Apurimac Canyon. When we reach Capuliyoc, we will have lunch and wait for our transportation that will take us back to Cusco.
